The Patrol Division the
backbone of the Sheriff's Office. We deploy five shifts, generally
consisting of regular patrol deputies, with either a Sergeant or Corporal
on duty overlapping with the regular patrol deputies. Patrol is
responsible for initially handling of calls for service and perform most
initial investigations, including follow-up investigations, service of
civil papers and provide citizen assistance activities.
The Sheriff's Office handles all routine
and emergency calls and regularly patrols all areas of the county.
The Sheriff and Sheriff's Deputies are the police force for residents of
the unincorporated areas of the county.
The Sheriff's Office provides for
contracted law enforcement for several smaller towns in the county.
The Sheriff's Office, by contract, provides law
enforcement for the cities of Little Sioux, Magnolia, Modale, Mondamin,
Persia, and Pisgah.
The Sheriff's Office also issues permits
to purchase and carry firearms; provides security for special events in
the county, like the 4-H Fair.
